PRESENTATION
Cet ouvrage est issu du travail d’une équipe interdisciplinaire qui se réunit régulièrement au C. W. Laeken (« Centrum voor WelziJnszorg te Laken ») à Bruxelles. Le C. W. Laeken est un centre d’hygiène mentale, mais se profile surtout commne un centre d’anthropologie médicale. Il travaille en milieu immigré et collabore étroitement avec d’autres Institutions et personnes, dont certaines participent régulièrement à des réunions où l’on discute dossiers et méthodes. Nous présentons ici une partie du travail réalisé dans ce cadre durant l’année 1988.
Faisaient partie du groupe à l’époque, les médecins généralistes P. De Munck et B. Vercruysse (médecins de la « Maison Médicale » de Schaerbeek-Bruxelles) et L. Ferrant (médecin de quartier à Cureghem, Anderlecht-Bruxelles) ; les médecins psychiatres J. Snacken (des Hôpitaux Universitaires du CPAS de Bruxelles) et G. Verdée (qui travaillait à l’époque au C. W. Laeken) : les psychologues anthropologues du C. W. Laeken, A. Gailly et Ph. Hermans ; les travailleurs sociaux L. Akpinar, G. Bayens, S. Claus et A. De Winter (C. W. Laeken) ; l’avocate Me M. CI. Foblets ; et enfin le Dr. J. Leman, président du Foyer pour immigrés à Molenbeek-Bruxelles et chargé de cours en cultures méditerranéennes à la K. U. Leuven (université de Louvain).
Voici donc le fruit de leurs discussions au sujet de certains de leurs clients. Les différents textes ont été soumis au groupe par leurs rédacteurs respectifs. Avec le risque d’être incomplets, signalons que les textes de type analytique ont été rédigés parle Dr. J. Snacken, les présentations de cas par le Dr. Vercruysse (le cas de la famille turque), le Dr. De Munek et A. Gailly (le cas du client turc) et le Dr. Ferrant (le cas du client marocain). C’est l’avocate M.-CI. Foblets qui a présenté la problématique de Naïma. J. Leman a rédigé le dossier des patients siciliens. A. Gailly et J. Snacken se sont chargés de rédiger l’essentiel de la deuxième partie, de portée plus générale. La version finale a été entièrement revue par J. Leman et A. Gailly.
Ce livre doit donc être lu comme un texte collectif conçu autour d’une table, et la rédaction finale a respecté le plus possible le style propre à ce type de travail. C’est un livre qui reflète les hésitations du groupe, ses désaccords parfois. Il ne s’agit pas d’une réflexion synthétique mais de la relation d’une démarche ; ce qui signifie que les membres d’équipes interdisciplinaires ou les praticiens s’y reconnaîtront sans doute plus facilement que les chercheurs académiques qui traitent leur sujet en développant une ou quelques idées-clefs.
Nous pensons que ces pages seront utiles aux « gens de terrain » de diverses disciplines. Ils y verront de façon très concrète combien riche peut être l’apport de collègues travaillant dans le même domaine qu’eux, mais dans la perspective de spécialités différentes.
